A few choice blues sites

The Devil's Music This website is dedicated to all the men and women who've played and sung the blues, whether they recorded one song, or one hundred songs, and to the blues fans from all over the world who've helped to keep the blues alive.

Junior's Juke Joint Junior is a cultural anthropologist who lives in the Mississippi Delta, Louisiana side. He spends lots of time in Delta juke joints. He will  take you on a trip inside the places where the blues began. He's not talking about white people blues bars filled with college students. He's talking about edge-of-a-cotton-field juke joints filled with real Delta folks.

The Blue Highway The history of the blues is more than a musical chronology. The blues was born the day the West African shoreline fell from the horizon. It was raised amid the institutionalized savagery of the Deep South and flourished in the dark heart of America's largest cities. We owe the blues to those who bore the pain of enslavement behind the frightful shadows of our collective soul. The Blue Highway, then, is dedicated to the men and women who traveled beyond our ignorant place, and to those who could not.

Blues Lyrics and Hoodoo  Blues fans who listen closely to song lyrics often wonder what a "mojo" is or why one would carry a "John da Conqueroo." Most people know these terms have something to do with African American folk magic, and they may even have run across interviews or songs in which a musician uses the word "hoodoo," but many incorrectly assume that the terms come from the Haitian religion known as Voodoo or Vodoun........

Blues World A cool, funky blues site.
